June 2020 Chairman’s Notes
“For even in the bleakest moments, even when he [Lincoln] set his face grimly toward war, he was untouched by cynicism or loss of faith. Mr. Lincoln believed — he believed in freedom, believed in the goodness and the ability of his heroes — the people of this country.” Ronald Reagan
FIRST DISTRICT CONVENTION
The First District Convention is going forward on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Caroline County High School as an unassembled convention. This means that there will be no convention floor and no candidate speeches, but it will have voting for all of the party positions to be decided. Voting will be a drive-thru affair.
RPV CONVENTION
The revised date of the RPV Convention is still to be determined.
JUNE 23rd PRIMARY
The Primary was moved to June 23rd by Virginia’s Governor. The Republican ballot has one question – who should be our nominee for the United States Senate election in November.
FREDERICKSBURG FAIR
The Fredericksburg Fair is coming up, July 31 – August 9th.
If you haven’t come out before, it is a fun time for the whole family. We will need volunteers to help out at our booth. We sign up new members and volunteers, inform people about the upcoming elections, and even pass out literature and yard signs. People really appreciate our presence.
MEETING – FINALLY
We will have our June meeting electronically. So, please come and join us on June 8, 2020. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM but you can come early to socialize.
We haven’t held an electronic meeting before. The State Central Committee adopted an amendment that allows meeting to take place this way.
In liberty,
Tony DeTora
