Early Voting Information
Absentee In-Person voting (also called Early Voting)
NOW THROUGH OCTOBER 31
Two Locations:
Stafford Airport @ 95 Aviation Way
Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4pm
Stafford County Government Center @ 1300 Courthouse Road
Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Special Saturday hours in October:
These locations will also be open on October 24 and October 31, 9am – 5pm
Mailing a Completed Absentee Ballot
If you vote an absentee ballot and return it by mail, it must be postmarked on or before Election Day (November 3) and be received by the Registrar’s Office no later than noon on Friday, November 6 to be counted (Va. Code §24.2-709). Any voted absentee ballots received after the deadline date and time will not be opened and will be delivered to the Clerk of the Circuit Court (Va. Code §24.2-711).
Dropping Off a Completed Absentee Ballot
There are lockboxes located at the Early Voting locations where completed absentee ballots can be dropped off instead of mailed.
On Election Day, a lockbox will be located at every polling location in Stafford County where completed absentee ballots can be dropped off.
The lockboxes will be available during the same hours that the polling locations will be open. All Absentee Ballots being dropped off must be dropped off before 7pm on Election Day.
Important Dates:
Friday, September 18 – First day of early voting, two locations open M-F.
Friday, October 23 – Deadline for the Registrar to receive an absentee ballot request by mail. Requests received after this date will not be processed.
Saturday, October 24 – Saturday hours for early voting, two locations.
Saturday, October 31 – Saturday hours for early voting, two locations. The last day for early voting.
Tuesday, November 3 – Election Day. Deadline for postmarking all absentee ballots by mail. Deadline for dropping off absentee ballots at lockboxes.
Friday, November 6 – Deadline for the Registrar to receive an absentee ballot by mail.
