The University of Mary Washington’s Student Government Association will host the political debate between Republican Derrick Anderson and Democrat Eugene Vindman at 7 p.m., Oct. 2 in Dodd Auditorium.

The free event will be co-sponsored by the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Free Lance–Star and the League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area. No tickets are required.

Those interested also can view the debate over Zoom at https:// go.umw.edu/2024debate.

Audience members will be able to submit questions for consideration before the debate.

The event will be moderated by Stephen Farnsworth, UMW professor of political science and director of the University’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies. Panelists asking questions of the candidates will include Rosalyn Cooperman, fellow UMW professor of political science and department chair; Ted Schubel, news director at WFVA Radio; and Jake Womer, managing editor of The Free Lance–Star.
