First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who has supported my campaign for U.S. House of Representatives since I first began exploring this race in September 2025. Over that time, I have made friends I could never imagine making, listening to your concerns, and visiting just about every corner of Virginia’s 7th District.
Last week, I was diagnosed with blood cancer. The specific name for it is Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) my medical team has laid out the optimal treatment plan.
I want to be exceptionally clear: I am fighting to beat this cancer, and I am fighting to beat Eugene Vindman in November. That is my promise to you.
As a soldier, my life could have been sacrificed on the altar of freedom at any time. For myself personally, the stakes are quite high. My campaign staff and volunteers assure me that no one would blame me if I focused on my recovery.
I am committed to giving Virginia’s 7th District a clear choice between the past and the future. Virginians deserve leadership who listens, who actually likes their constituents, and is willing to work across the aisle for commonsense values. The leadership we say we want but rarely vote for, whether it is for farmers, parents, teachers, law enforcement, government workers or veterans. The problems we face are bigger than political parties, and while we may disagree on how we tackle a problem, we should never disagree on our love for the things that matter — jobs we don’t hate, roads that aren’t terrible, and providing health care and benefits and educations worthy of the name.
The next few weeks for me personally are by no means certain. The next few weeks of this campaign are most definitely certain. Our values, our principles, and the message we have to send to Washington is certain.
To be clear, this particular type of AML is extremely treatable. Our doctors are positive. For that, Sabrina and I are incredibly thankful for your prayers and positive energy moving forward.
Over the next few weeks, I want to send a message that leadership matters and that the values which made America great can make her great again. There is no problem created by human beings that cannot be fixed by human beings. All of us, stronger together. That’s my message.
I am going to need your help to send that message.
For months, I have said that Virginia’s 7th District needs leadership that listens. From the bottom of my heart, I have loved every second getting to know this district.
Virginia’s 7th District has a choice in November. Let’s make our answer heard loud and clear. Thank you again for your tremendous support and remember — I will keep fighting for you.
