Key Platform Proposals

Proposal	Description
Abolition of the Senate	DSA wants to eliminate the Senate and thereby eliminate the Constitutional structure that gives every state equal representation.
Replacement of Executive and Judicial Branches	They want to replace the President and Supreme Court with leaders chosen by Congress effectively denying the people the right to choose.
Public Ownership of Corporations	They want to shift control of large corporations to public ownership destroying the free enterprise system.
Voting Rights Expansion	They want to extend voting rights to all residents, including non-U.S. citizens.
Abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement	They want to get rid of the U.S.’s only immigration enforcement agency and open our borders to everyone.
Defund the Department of War	They want to abolish the military and reallocate military funding towards social programs.
Repeal the 2nd Amendment	They argue there is no individual right to own a gun. In other words, an unarmed citizenry is much easier to control.
Universal Healthcare	The DSA is for universal healthcare for EVERYONE, including non-U.S. citizens. This will lead to increased taxes, longer wait times for treatment, reduced quality of care, government inefficiency and bureaucracy, decreased incentives for companies to invest in medical research, and a loss of medical professionals.
Bodily Autonomy	The DSA believes that parents have no rights in their minor child’s decision to alter their gender. They believe that biological boys/men who identify as a female should be allowed in women’s bathrooms and women’s sports.
Green New Deal	They believe that America should be 100% fossil fuel free and Carbon neutral by 2030. To do this, the DSA will take government control of the oil and coal companies and phase them out as quickly as possible — no new fossil fuel projects can be authorized or built. They also want to take government control of utilities and the electric grid, and shift to 100% renewable energy. All this, while the rest of the world is still operating under a petroleum-based economy. Oh, and less we forget. No private vehicles FOR ANYONE.
Finish Reconstruction	The DSA advocates for what they call “finishing reconstruction” by addressing the legacies of slavery and colonialism. They advocate for reparations as a means to acknowledge and compensate for past injustices. Meaning, the taxpayers (but only certain taxpayers) will be forced to pay reparations to people whose ancestors may or may not have been slaves regardless of whether your ancestors had anything to do with slavery.
Abolish the Police and the Prison System	The DSA advocates for ending mass incarceration, including defunding police departments, and redirecting funds as part of a longer-term goal of abolishing the police and prison system.
