2nd HOUSE OF DELEGATES DISTRICT – SPECIAL ELECTION

Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy resigned so she can focus on trying to move into a bigger house – the Governor’s mansion. We had an almost immediate turnaround on selecting a nominee for the 2nd Delegate District because the filing deadline to get on the ballot is Monday at 5pm. The district includes parts of Stafford and Prince William counties. The Special Election will be on January 5, 2021 so the new Delegate can participate in the legislative session in Richmond.

One candidate filed for the Republican nomination – Stafford’s Heather Mitchell. I can’t think of anyone who would better serve the 2nd District.

Now we need everyone’s help to win this seat back. Republicans have won the seat before and, with our help, we can secure a victory in the Special Election. I am asking each of you – even those who don’t live in the 2nd – to help contribute time and effort so we do everything we can to win back this seat.

DECEMBER MEETING

We will hold an unofficial meeting on zoom this coming Monday, December 14, 2020. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. We will hear from candidates for upcoming elections, including the statewide races in 2021. Details and the login information is below.

2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

President Trump continues his effort to ensure that all valid votes are counted and that invalid votes are thrown out. This work has yielded an incredible backlash among the media, who have proven themselves to be no more than a PR wing for the Democrats. It is also clear that some of the lawyers and witnesses who made the largest claims of fraud weren’t able to provide enough evidence to convince state courts to take the measures that would be required. We’ll see how the Supreme Court handles the cases that have been appealed or filed there.

BATTLEGROUND STAFFORD

We worked hard. We fought together. And the ground shifted out from under our feet. They changed the rules – no photo ID needed to vote, extending Election Day for seven weeks, and they wanted to count ballots that were mailed AFTER Election Day.

We re-elected Rob Wittman, but Daniel Gade and President Trump both lost Stafford County.

But we have been given another chance – the 2nd Delegate District. Half of this district is in Prince William, but if we can get Stafford Republicans to vote in the January 5 Special Election, we can send Heather Mitchell to Richmond. I know that we all have a lot on our plate with Christmas and New Year and everything else. But this is our chance to say that Stafford County is not turning BLUE, we are staying RED. This is our chance to say that we believe in God and America and support our troops. This is our chance to say that choices matter, and our choice is freedom, justice, and family.

OCTOBER MEETING

We will hold our October meeting in person at the Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department next Monday, October 12, 2020. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. The Official Call is below with address details. A special thank you to the Falmouth Volunteer Fire Department for hosting us, and to 1st Vice Chairman Charles Sterne for coordinating.

GADE RALLY & DOOR KNOCKING

This coming Saturday, October 10 at 9am there will be a rally for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Daniel Gade (flier attached). The rally will be at the Fredericksburg Area Trump Victory Office at 4920 Southpoint Parkway. This will be a great event, and then Charlie Gann from the Gade campaign will be leading a Door Knocking event. Come on out!

WITTMAN SIGN PARTY & DOOR KNOCKING

Coming up on October 20, Congressman Rob Wittman will be coming to Stafford for a sign party at Saint Clair Brooks Park from 3-4:30pm. Come pick up your campaign yard signs, and show your support for Rob. At 4:40p, Brent Canada from the Wittman campaign will be leading a Door Knocking event.

STAFFORD COUNTY FAIR

The Stafford County Fair is being held this year – with a shortened schedule – on October 16-18. We will have a booth on site during the event, which is being held at 9000 Celebrate VA Pkwy. We can always use more volunteers to talk with folks who come by the booth. Come on out and share your support!

Voting has started.

SEPTEMBER MEETING

There has been an ongoing discussion about getting back to in-person meetings. Through my conversations, I realize that many of you still have significant concerns about gathering in person. I also realize that many of you are not worried about the situation and are ready to get back to life before the virus. I further note that many of you really don’t want to engage on a virtual platform. This is a difficult thing to balance, but for September we will proceed with a virtual meeting.

We will hold our September meeting virtually via Zoom. So, please come and join us on September 14, 2020. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. The Official Call is below with login details.

SUPER SATURDAY DOOR KNOCKING

This coming Saturday, September 12, from 10a-3p we will have a Super Saturday Door Knocking event in Stafford. We’re working closely with the campaigns to ensure the proper training and walk sheets for engaging our Republican voters. I will send out a notice with specific details later this week.

TRUMP BOAT PARADE

This past Saturday many of you participated in the Trump Boat Parade from the Aquia Creek to the Potomac River and on to Fairview Beach. There were well over 100 boats in the parade supporting our President. There have been boat parades across the country supporting President Trump and we can see the momentum picking up on our path to getting him re-elected. Virginia is within reach. We can turn it red again!

BATTLEGROUND STAFFORD

We’re getting down to it now. The cooler weather is coming, and that brings with it the stark reality that the Democrats nominated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We cannot let them win. It is bad enough that we have to deal with Nancy Pelosi and the leftist agenda of “The Squad” but if we lose the White House then all bets are off.

It feels like America’s streets are not safe and riots can flare up anywhere in an instant. We see the lawlessness in America’s cities while the liberal press attacks us for wanting order restored. Protesting is not the same as rioting. Marching and petitioning is not the same as mobs blocking roadways and attacking cars with families in them. We know the difference, and so do those who refuse to call these things what they are.

Our greatest weapon is the ballot box. There are many more Americans who believe in law and order than there are who believe in destruction and mayhem. Our votes matter. So does getting our allies out to the polls. We’re rounding the final turn and coming up on the home stretch. Now is the time to fight our way to victory.

RPV CONVENTION

The RPV Convention is going forward on Saturday, August 15, 2020 as an unassembled convention. Additional volunteers to help with the convention are always welcome.

TRUMP YARD SIGNS

We have some Trump Yard Signs and can deliver them throughout the county, or make them available for pickup.

FREDERICKSBURG FAIR

The Fredericksburg Fair has been cancelled for 2020.

AUGUST MEETING

We will hold our August meeting virtually via Zoom.  So, please come and join us on August 10, 2020. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. The Official Call is below with login details.

BATTLEGROUND STAFFORD

They’re coming for us. They’re coming for the Republicans. And Stafford County is the new battleground. We see paid political operatives from the other side moving in. They’re lying about our motives and actions. For them, politics is power, and power is everything.

All of us believe in the words and spirit of the RPV Creed. “We believe that all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society.” I believe this in my heart and my soul, and I try to live it every day in my actions. But no action I take will ever convince the other side of that, because I have an (R) next to my name.

That’s ok. That’s their problem, not mine. I am a proud Republican. They want to tear down Abraham Lincoln’s statue. I stand tall and celebrate that I am in the party of Lincoln. They want to tear down Ronald Reagan, and Teddy Roosevelt, and Donald Trump.

I say no! I say enough! I say we must stand and fight! We are three months from the election. Rob Wittman needs us to send him back to the U.S. House. Daniel Gade needs us to send him to the U.S. Senate. And Donald Trump does not win Virginia unless he wins right here in Stafford County.

It is time to fight.

RPV CONVENTION

PRIMARY RESULTS

Congratulations to Daniel Gade on winning the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Daniel will need our help to beat Mark Warner in November.

FREDERICKSBURG FAIR

The Fredericksburg Fair is coming up, July 31 – August 9th.

If you haven’t come out before, it is a fun time for the whole family. We will need volunteers to help out at our booth. We sign up new members and volunteers, inform people about the upcoming elections, and even pass out literature and yard signs. People really appreciate our presence.

MEETING – FINALLY

We are planning to have our July meeting virtually via Zoom.  So, please come and join us on July 13, 2020. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM. Some of you may not feel comfortable attending due to personal health or other reasons. It is my intention that absences from this meeting will not count against the three consecutive meeting rule.

FIRST DISTRICT CONVENTION

The First District Convention is going forward on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Caroline County High School as an unassembled convention. This means that there will be no convention floor and no candidate speeches, but it will have voting for all of the party positions to be decided. Voting will be a drive-thru affair.

RPV CONVENTION

The revised date of the RPV Convention is still to be determined.

JUNE 23rd PRIMARY

The Primary was moved to June 23rd by Virginia’s Governor. The Republican ballot has one question – who should be our nominee for the United States Senate election in November.

FREDERICKSBURG FAIR

Operation Chaos – We have received some questions regarding “Project Chaos” in which some Republicans are considering voting in the Democratic Presidential Primary on Tuesday, March 3. Please do not participate.

Obviously, it is your right to cast your vote how you see fit. But remember – a vote is a demonstration of support, even if cast in opposition to an opponent. If you feel that one Democratic candidate is such a threat to our republic that you cast a vote on Tuesday, you are risking your membership in the Republican Party for the next five years.

The RPV plan, Article 1, Section A(4) states that for a person “to be in accord with the principles of the Republican Party… [they] shall not have participated in Virginia in the nomination process of a party other than the Republican Party with in the last five years.”

If anyone has further questions about this, or wishes to complain about this, please let me know.

Committee Reconstitution
On March 9, we will reconstitute our Committee, electing a new Executive Board, and electing new membership.

  1. Electing Membership for existing committee members: Yes, you have to complete a new Membership Form. The form for 2020-2021 is available on our website https://staffordgop.com . Please complete the form and bring it to the meeting, or you can complete it online and pay at the same time. If you do bring the form, please also bring your $40 dues payment with you.
  2. Electing New Members: If you were not previously a member of the SCRC, then we invite you to complete the Membership Form. If you have previously completed this step, have already been vetted, and have paid the $40 dues fee, then you will be voted in as member at the end of the SCRC meeting.
  3. Committee Elections: The positions of First Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Magisterial District Chairman are all elected by the membership. All positions are a 2 year term. These positions must be held by current SCRC members. If you are interested in seeking any of these positions, you will be given an opportunity during the meeting to nominate yourself. If you are interested in one of these roles, I would strongly suggest that you speak with me prior to nominations, but it is not required. You may also nominate someone else, so long as you have their permission to do so and they are willing serve in that position. The following is a brief description of each position:
    1. First Vice Chairman: The primary responsibility of the First Vice Chairman is Election Day operations. This includes: (1) obtaining, managing and training volunteers; (2) working with campaigns; (3) working with magisterial chairs; and (4) obtaining, maintaining and accounting for election material and equipment. You will need to be able to work all day on election days during your 2 year term.
    2. Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the accounts of the SCRC. This includes: (1) deposits of funds from memberships and other sources; (2) paying bills; and (3) filing required statements with the State Board of Elections.
    3. Secretary: The primary responsibility of the Secretary is to maintain a current membership list and to take minutes at the monthly meetings. If you are not using a computer to take minutes at the meeting, then an additional responsibility will be transcribe minutes as well.
    4. Magisterial District Chairs: There are 7 Magisterial Districts in Stafford County. The Magisterial Chairs primary responsibilities include: (1) Obtaining and managing volunteers; (2) working with the First Vice Chairman to coordinate election day activities; (3) opening and closing the precincts at the locations in your Magisterial District; and (4) managing precincts during the day. You will need to be able to work the election days during your 2 year term.  If you were a Magisterial Chair the last 2 years, you will need to run again for your position.

The January Regular Meeting is very important. Please make sure that you attend. We will be approving the SCRC Mass Meeting Call and the SCRC Mass Meeting Filing Form. Since the Mass Meeting Call and Filing Form must be published by the end of January, we must have quorum to accomplish our deadlines.

Please make sure to open and review the documents with this Call before the meeting. All filing fees and terms set for the in the Draft Mass Meeting Call and Draft Filing Form are suggested and are set by the SCRC at the January 2020 Regular Business Meeting.

If you Cannot attend the January Regular Meeting, please complete the Proxy Form as soon as possible. If you have someone who can act as a proxy for you, that is preferable. If you do not, I can help you find one. Any proxy acting on your behalf must be a registered Stafford County voter. You can call me at 312-213-0318 with any questions.

March 2019 Chairman’s Notes

NEW MEMBERS

We would like to welcome all our new members to the SCRC! We are pleased to have you as part of the SCRC family and are looking forward working together to promote the conservative ideals that we all stand for!

RENEWING MEMBERSHIP THIS MEETING

I know that it feels like we just did this, but it has actually been year! Dues and new membership forms of the SCRC are due at the beginning of the meeting this month. You can pay online, or bring your dues to the meeting on Monday in the form of cash or check.

According to the SCRC bylaws, if you paid after January, but before March, then you only have to pay $20. In addition, the Bylaws state that if payment is not received at the beginning of the meeting, then you will be not able to vote until said payment is received. However, this does not remove you as a member. Rather, once payment is received, your right to vote is automatically restored.

I have also attached a new membership form to the email. If you prefer (or forget your form) we will have blank ones at the meeting for you to complete. Unfortunately, even if you just completed the form, you will have to complete a new one to reflect the 2019-2020 membership year.

PRIMARY PAPERWORK

According to the Virginia Board of Elections, Republicans can begin submitting their paperwork to the appropriate person, beginning March 11, 2019 no earlier than 12:00pm and no later than March 28, 2019 at 5:00pm. This is strict deadline. If any candidate does not have their paperwork in the appropriate person’s hands by March 28th at 5:00pm, it will not be accepted. In other words, 5:01pm is too late.

Please note that if more than one candidate files and turns in paperwork for a particular office, there will be a primary and the names on the ballot will be listed in the order received by the individual listed below.

Here is the list of the individuals and the offices that each candidate will need to submit their paperwork to:

  • House of Delegates, 2nd District and all Local Stafford County offices:
    • Adela Bertoldi, SCRC Chairman and LDC, 2nd District Chairman will be accepting paperwork beginning March 11, 2019 at 12:00pm-5:00pm, paperwork can be submitted at my house, located at 10 Kingsley Ct, Stafford, VA 22554. For clarity, my house has 2 concrete lions on the front porch. After March 11th and before the deadline, any candidate wishing to submit paperwork can call me at 312-213-0318 and make arrangements to submit paperwork. On the March 28, 2019 5:00pm deadline, I will be accepting paperwork between 4:00pm-5:00pm, again to be submitted at my house.
  • House of Delegates, 28th District:
    • Charles Bullock, LDC 28th District Chairman will be accepting paperwork beginning March 11, 2019 at 12:00pm-2:00pm, paperwork can be submitted at Mr. Bullock’s house, located at 215 Chapel Green Rd., Fredericksburg, VA 22405. After March 11th and before the deadline, any candidate wishing to submit paperwork can call Mr. Bullock at 540-834-9620 and make arrangements to submit paperwork. On the March 28, 2019 5:00pm deadline, Mr. Bullock will be accepting paperwork between 4:00pm-5:00pm, again to be submitted at Mr. Bullock’s house.
  • Virginia Senate, 28th District:
    • Danielle Davis, LDC 28th District Chairman will be accepting paperwork beginning March 11, 2019 at 12:00pm-5:00pm, paperwork can be submitted at Ms. Davis’ house, located at 1650 Brooke Rd, Stafford, VA 22554. I would like to welcome all our new members to the SCRC! We are pleased to have you as part of the SCRC family and are looking forward working together to promote the conservative ideals that we all stand for!

METHOD OF NOMINATION FOR STAFFORD COUNTY RACES
My Chair Notes will be focusing primarily on the Method of Nominations for our local offices. All methods of nomination must be submitted to the State board of Elections by no later than February 26, 2019, so we must choose our methods of nomination at our February meeting. If you are unable to attend, GET A PROXY. If you need help obtaining a proxy, please let me know and I will help you.

Below is a background of the process and method options that we will be considering at the February meeting.

We have several local seats up for election in November 2019. They are:

  • Commonwealth Attorney (currently held by Eric Olsen, Republican)
  • Commissioner of Revenue (currently held by Scott Mayauski, Republican)
  • Sheriff, (currently held by David Decatur, Republican)
  • Treasurer (currently held by Laura Rudy, Republican)
  • Board of Supervisors, George Washington District (currently held by Tom Coen, Independent)
  • Board of Supervisors, Griffis-Widewater District (currently held by Jack Cavalier, Republican)
  • Board of Supervisors, Rock Hill District (currently held by Wendy Maurer, Republican)

There will also be races for the Virginia Senate and the House of Delegates on the November 2019 ballot, but those methods of nomination are governed by the Legislative District Committees and have already been decided. We are only focused on our Stafford County local races.

Please note that School Board elections are nonpartisan, so, these seats will only appear on the November 2019 ballot. However, candidates for the School Board will have the opportunity to seek the endorsement of the SCRC. This is a different process and will be discussed at the March meeting in greater detail.

The November ballot will include, presumably, at least a Republican and Democrat candidate. The method of nomination that we will be voting on will determine how we pick our Republican candidates, but only if more than one person seeks the republican nomination for the November ballot.

There are four (4) choices of method of nomination:

  • Primary: is open to all registered voters and is conducted by the Virginia Department of Elections. The Code of Virginia defines the notice, filing requirements, deadlines and other procedures for holding a primary. Candidates appear on the June Primary Ballot in Stafford County. Voters are able to vote in the Primary from 6am-7pm on Election Day. SCRC is not responsible for paying, organizing, advertising or conducting the Primary. NOTE: In 2015, all Stafford County local office races chose primaries as the method of nomination.
  • Convention: is a public assembly of delegates chosen specially as representatives of a constituent unit, or group, to act for the entire group. Voting at a convention is weighted according to a pre-determined formula specified in the call. The SCRC would be responsible for paying, organizing, advertising and conducting the Convention.
  • Party Canvass: (also known as a “firehouse primary”) operates much like a primary, but is conducted by the appropriate Unit or Legislative District Committee of the Party. Canvasses are held on a certain date in one or more locations for a period of several hours. Republican voters cast their ballots during the canvass, and the votes are tallied following the close of the canvass. While a mass meeting or convention may have more than one round of voting, at a party canvass voters vote only once and a nomination or election may be decided by a plurality. The SCRC would be responsible for paying, organizing, advertising and conducting the Party Canvass.
  • Mass Meeting: is a public assembly of an unorganized group, usually voters of an election district or unit, to transact certain business as defined in the call of the Mass Meeting. Republican voters who attend the meeting cast their votes during simultaneous balloting at a particular time (unlike a primary or canvass, where voting takes place over a period of several hours). Unlike a Convention, there is no weighted voting. The SCRC would be responsible for paying, organizing, advertising and conducting the Mass Meeting.

VOTING IN NEW MEMBERS

Several people have shown an interest in joining our SCRC, either by email or in person at our last meeting. Below is a list of the individuals that I have received membership applications from thus far. If your name is not on the list, and you think it should be, please send me an email. If you still have not completed the membership form, please do it soon. I cannot take new application forms right before or during the meeting. Please make sure to bring the dues if you have not already submitted them. No membership application can be voted on by the SCRC without receipt. Thank you!

January 2019 Chairman’s Notes

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

New year…new beginnings… 2019 is going to be an exciting and busy year for the Republican Party, especially locally. While we are all members of one group, we must remember and respect that we are all individuals with our own preferences and ideas. This will be more apparent now as the candidate season fast approaches.

I agree with our Commander in Chief, when he said:

“We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity.” – Donald Trump

Additionally, let’s not lose sight on what our common ground is and why we elected Donald Trump to be our President of the United States of America in the first place:

“We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.” – Donald Trump

We are well on our way toward this goal, but 2018 was a mixed bag for the Republican Party. Stafford County is rapidly changing. What worked in the not so far past to elect conservatives is not going to work anymore. We must work together and come up with new ways to invigorate the base and get conservatives to the polls.

President Trump really sums up what our theme should be for the year:

“I try to learn from the past, but I plan for the future by focusing exclusively on the present. That’s where the fun is.”  – Donald Trump

The January Business Meeting is an important one for us and we have much to cover. Due to the holidays, we have missed quorum by a few votes for the October and December meetings. So, if you cannot make the meeting, please let me know and get a proxy.

Election of New Members

I have received many applications for membership. The name of the individuals who, thus far, are seeking membership to the SCRC are listed on the Agenda. Please note that we will be voting in each potential member individually.

NOTE TO APPLICANTS TO OUR COMMITTEE: it is strongly encouraged that you show up to our meeting on January 14th if you can. While it is not required for you to be present, this allows our membership to meet you and ask questions if the need arises. If you are unable to make the meeting, please let me know.

Committee Elections

In addition to the Treasurer and the Magisterial Chair elections, we will now need to elect a Secretary. Heather Flynn has resigned her post due to a new job that conflicts with our meeting time. We wish her success in her new endeavors.

If anyone has an interest or is willing to step up to the post of Secretary, please let me know. This is an important position. Plus, I’m sure Tony DeTora will sincerely appreciate it!

School Board

I have included on the Agenda the Stafford County School Board’s Revised Proposed New Policy #2420, which is the Gendered Identity and Expression policy amendment proposal. I sent out a separate email with the upcoming dates, regarding this important issue, this past weekend. We will be discussing in our meeting what role the SCRC wants to have with respect to the proposed policy. It is worthy to note that the policy that passes, if any, will be the first in the entire Commonwealth of Virginia.

This matter is next up on the School Board’s Agenda as an information Item tomorrow, January 8, 2019 at 7:00pm. The School Board address is: 31 Stafford Ave, Stafford, VA 22554

November 2018 Chairman’s Notes

First, let me say congratulations to Congressman Rob Wittman in his hard-fought bid to continue to represent the 1st District of Virginia.

Corey Stewart and Gordon Silver may have lost their bids, but they worked hard and put everything they had into their races. We thank them for their efforts in promoting the conservative cause.

We would also like to thank all our Election Day warrior volunteers who braved the cold and rainy weather to help out and do what was needed.

I would like to personally thank Tony DeTora for all his work as First Vice Chairman. Your diligence paid off and it showed at the polls. I would also like to thank Crystal Vanuch (Second Vice Chair), and the Magisterial Chairs (elected and acting) who stepped up and worked hard in the districts that they were responsible for representing on Election Day. They are:

2. Jerry Fitzgerald, Falmouth District
3. Bart Randall, Garrisonville District
4. Mike Rodriguez, Hartwood District

So, now down to business, the election is over and its time to take a deep breath and regroup. We lost the US Senate and the Board of Supervisors races. We managed to keep the US Congressional seat, but not by many points. With the new growth in Stafford, particularly in North Stafford, our demographics are changing. What worked in the immediate past to elect conservatives to office also needs to change and adjust. There are many ideas that we can explore to make that happen. Starting with the January meeting, we will be focused on those ideas so that we will be ready for next year and the years to come. So, bring your ideas and lets work together to be stronger in 2019!

Since the November meeting landed on Veteran’s Day weekend, it has been cancelled. There is NO MEETING THIS MONDAY!!!!!!

And, to all the service men and woman, along with their families, who have fought for our great country, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. God bless you!

We will be having a Christmas Party and business meeting on Wednesday, DECEMBER 12, 2018. Location will be at the Augustine North Community Center, located at 201 Monument Dr, Stafford, Va, as in years past. Details will follow with the agenda for the December meeting. I do need some help with the party. So, please let me know if you are interested in helping to make a dish or bringing some decorations for the event!

October 2018 Chairman’s Notes

We have all known and understood what the new face of the modern Democrat Party looks like, but it hasn’t been clearer than it has been in the past 14 days. The modern Democrat Party has put it all out on the table. They are holding no more cards close to the vest. I am sure that I am not alone in saying this, but this is a new low for our Country as a whole. Are we as Republicans going to let the Democrats get away with this?

I hope that the answer is no.

We need take the advice of former White House Chief of Staff for Obama, Rahm Emanuel and “never let a good crisis go to waste.” People are upset, and rightfully so. If there has even been a time that we need to unite as a party, it is now. There is an election in November. This is when our voices will be heard. We must be louder than the Democrats to win in November. If we don’t win, and the Democrats regain power, we know what we will see for the next two years: impeachments and investigations. This is not speculation; this is the platform that the Democrats are running on.

We all need to do our part. Can we count on you? Can our candidates count on you?

NOVEMBER 6th GENERAL ELECTION

There are remaining training dates and times for inside poll watchers and outside volunteers. The location will be at the Porter Library, located at 2001 Parkway Blvd, Stafford. Please mention the training sessions to your friends and try and bring at least one person with you. RSVP is encouraged for proper head count. The remaining dates and times are as follows:

October 10th 1-5pm (Wed), October 25th 6-9pm (Th), and October 27th 1-5pm (Sat).

Also, if there campaigns or groups that have at least 5 volunteers, we can arrange to come and conduct the training for the group on a date and time other than the ones listed above.

MAGISTERIAL CHAIRS NEEDED

We still need of volunteers for some of the districts. This is an important role and a vital part of the Election Day process. If anyone has interest, please contact me. We will be holding elections at our October meeting for the 4 open Magisterial District Chair positions. Candidates for the Rock Hill and Garrisonville Districts have stepped up and will be seeking the seat in their respective districts. We are still in need of candidates in the Hartwood and Griffis-Widewater Districts.

STAFFORD COUNTY FAIR

The fair is scheduled for October 18th- October 21st. The fair hours are as follows:

Thursday 5pm-10pm
Friday 5pm-11pm
Saturday 12pm-11pm
Sunday 12pm-9pm

We need volunteers to work the fair. Please email me if you are interested. We will also make sure that a signup sheet is on the website shortly.

DEBATES:

Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) has committed to two debates against Democrat candidate Vangie Williams. If you plan on attending one or both of the debates, you must arrive as early as you can. They are expecting a full house. It is our understanding that the parking lots and seats will go VERY fast and VERY early. Think about making signs in support of Wittman if you plan on attending. The known information for both debates are:

  1. October 22, 2018: Location: University of Mary Washington, Dodd Auditorium, 1301 College Avenue, Fredericksburg, VA 22401; Time: Doors open at 6:45pm, event starts at 7pm; event will be moderated by UMW Political Science Professor Dr. Stephen Farnsworth; the event is sponsored by the Free Lance-Star and the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.
  2. October 25, 2018: Location: Hanover High School, Mechanicsville, VA; the event starts at 7pm.

NOVEMBER 6th GENERAL ELECTION
ELECTION, ELECTION, ELECTION…. Have I mentioned that there is an election soon!

For those of you who missed the last meeting, I stressed the importance of supporting all of our candidates on the November ballot. The candidate you supported in the Primary may not have won, but at the end the day, we all need to be a cohesive team and work together to elect Republicans.

Will Stanton made a wise statement in the Ladies’ Home Journal, dated Nov. 1962, he said, “Republicans sleep in twin beds-some even in separate rooms. That is why there are more Democrats.” If we have learned anything from the last Presidential election, it’s that elections are decided by those who show up to vote. It is not only up to us to vote, but also actively work with the Republican candidates in getting their constituents out to vote as well.

We are planning a few Election Day volunteer drives at the Mantel Coffee Shoppe, located at 15 Tech Pkwy #101, Stafford. The dates and times are TBA. However, we will be scheduling dates for the weeks of October 1st and the 15th. Others dates may be added as well. Stay tuned.

Training dates and times for inside poll watchers and outside volunteers have been scheduled. The location will be at the Porter Library, located at 2001 Parkway Blvd, Stafford.  You will be able to sign up for a specific date and time on the website in the next couple of days. Also, please mention the training sessions to your friends and try and bring at least one person with you. It is a great way to outreach to the community and for them to learn about elections, volunteering and to learn about our Committee. RSVP is encouraged for proper head count. The Porter Library rooms have maximum occupancy requirements, so it is important to have a good estimate of how many people will be attending each training session. I know that it still seems a long time away, but I the November Election is right around the corner.  I am asking everyone to mark your calendars now and set some time aside to volunteer on Election Day. We understand that everyone has a busy schedule, but please consider volunteering at least some of  your time.You can speak to either me or Tony DeTora about volunteering options. We must be active and help our candidates win in November. We need at least 180 volunteers to cover inside and outside the polls in November. A signup sheet will go around at this meeting for the November election.

FREDERICKSBURG FAIR
We had a very successful booth at the Fredericksburg Fair.  I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who volunteered. Our booth was well represented. All the campaigns pitched in, as did members of the SCRC and elected officials. Thanks again for your time and commitment to promoting the Republican cause! JULY BUSINESS MEETING

The July meeting is cancelled. Next meeting will be August 13, 2018.

MAGISTERIAL CHAIRS NEEDED

This is an important role and a vital part of the Election Day process. Please remember that you will need to commit to a 2 year term, and you will need to be able to work the entire day for both primaries and general elections. If anyone has interest, but needs further clarification about the roll, please contact me. We still need Magisterial Chairs in the following districts for the November Election:

Hartwood
Garrisonville
Griffis-Widewater

FREDERICKSBURG FAIR

Please remember to sign up!!!!! SCRC welcomes the Republican campaigns to coordinate efforts with us to man the table. The Fredericksburg Fair dates are July 27 – August 5th. The dates and times are:

July 4th
9:00-11:30ish Dale City Parade
-Need volunteers to walk in parade, hand out literature, candy, and hold up signs for Rob!
-Need volunteers to help create signs to be displayed in the parade (Artistic People)
-Rob Will be in atttendance

9:00-5:00 PM Fredericksburg Heritage Festival
-Need volunteers to help set up tent in the morning and man table
-Need volunteers to help pass out candy, literature, yard signs, etc…
-Rob will attend some point during the afternoon
-I will be there from 1-5 after the Dale City Parade

9:00-11:00 AM Aquia Harbour 4th of July Parade
-Need a vehicle to put signs on for parade
-Need volunteers to walk in parade handing out literature, candy, etc…

JUNE 12th PRIMARY

The Primary is the day after our meeting. So, if you can help out on Election Day, please make sure to bring your calendar. In addition, I am asking the candidates to communicate with the SCRC as soon as possible regarding which precincts they have volunteers secured.

SUBMISSIONS FOR THE AGENDA

This is a reminder that no new business will be voted on by the membership unless it appears on the Agenda. I send out the Agenda the first Monday of every month. If any members wish to bring an issue before the SCRC, then, such requests must be submitted to me by Sunday night before I send out the call. If you wish for the SCRC to vote on a referendum, then it must be attached to the Agenda. If not, then, a brief statement regarding what you wish to bring before the SCRC for a vote is sufficient. If you have any questions, please let me know.
